The NFL and Cover girl

The NFL and Cover Girl have a partnership that has taken some hits. I read an article about cover girl and the hits that it has taken in the midst of the Ray Rice domestic abuse scandal. The article talked about Covergirl being the official beauty sponsor for the league. Cover girl has an ad with the team colors on models. So far they have not made a statement about the scandal. However there has been push back on social media as Adele Stan edited the Baltimore Ravens model to have a black eye. The Ray Rice event caused a national firestorm and for the sponsors of the NFL a decision had to made on whether to continue it partnership or if this was a situation that their brand could no longer be associated with.  Covergirl decided to stay with the NFL. The company however did have to make a statement concerning the event and it’s partnership with the NFL.  This must have been a hard decision because it has so many layers to it. It is something to be said for loyalty to a partnership but you have to also take into consideration your costumers. Covergirl decided to stick with its partnership with the league I agree with the decision that Covergirl came to I think that this event opened a lot of eyes to a sensitive subject. Cover girl as a solution took down it’s Ravens ad and issued a statement that they did not think that domestic violence was acceptable and that this is an opportunity for the NFL to take a stance on the matter. I do however believe that the response from Covergirl was just okay it had an opportunity in my opinion to take a stronger stance and use it’s platform as a recognizable brand to reach those 80 million women football fans that they talked about. For example I think that Covergirl could have created an ad to be aired during football games and across all of their social media platforms bringing more attention to the subject. I think that the ad could have shown some faces of domestic violence with Covergirl make up on and have a line saying something like unlike the beauty of these faces what they had to live was extremely ugly and Covergirl is committed to making domestic violence a top priority for the company. Then have the domestic abuse hotline number attached to the ad. I know that being a partner with the NFL is a big deal because of it’s reach. So it makes good business sense to keep your partnership as long as the deal is mutually benefitial to the company. I am sure that the NFL will not forget Covergirl’s loyalty and if handled correctly the public will remember that Covergirl stood with the NFL but also to a stance for what was right. In time people tend to forget but if you make them remember something good it will last you a lifetime.

Do you know some of the small names in the Super Bowl

We are at the start of Super Bowl week as I am a ESPN junkie I see all the players arriving the fans and the hoopla. I think that this is a great time for football fans even if your team isn't playing in the game. I am wondering how many of you know some of the small names that are now playing in the big game. When I use the term small names I mean those players that where not at the top of draft boards that have came out and made a name for themselves throughout their hard work dedication, determination and play. Names that are obvious like Tom Brady and Russell Wilson both quarterbacks that where not first or even second rounders but have definitely made their mark. What about  Julian Edelman with grit and attitude has turned the seventh round pick into a key piece to the Patriots success. There are many more out there in this game and if you check back this afternoon there ail be a little quiz to test your knowledge of those small names with BIG GAMES.
IT'S TIME TEST YOUR kNOWLEDGE

This is just the beginning of a focused journey
We are all aware that there are some big names out there on the high school and college sports scene. Even those big names on the professional scene. I am a person that grew up in a small town in the state of florida. I have for as long as I can remember been an avid sports fan. So much so that I became apart of a brain bowl team and my subject matter was you guessed it sports. I was not just a fan of the major sports of football, basketball, and baseball. I grew to appreciate and become a fan of it all from hockey, tennis, and golf to polo and cricket. Growing up in a small town shaped me in many ways and opened my eyes to a variety of things. One of which that I noticed growing just how much more difficult it was to get noticed in the sports arena. I grew watching people that where a little older than me as well as my peers with a great amount of talent but never getting the recognition or looks from not just big colleges but any colleges. I would see these athletes with so much potential after graduation with such limited choices like the military, community college (with either student loans or financial aid) start working, or like a lot of the people the corner. This has always been an issue so now that I have decided to make sports a career I think it is a good time to give this a voice.  I know that there are amazing athletes that deserve the attention that they garner but I am definetly aware that there are small names with BIG GAMES out there and I am looking for you. It is my goal to bring attention to these individuals that they may not have had otherwise. This is just the beginning because I know that little towns like Lake City,FL. that I grew up in hold massive amount of potential.
